Januvia – a prescription pill that helps lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Byetta – an injectable prescription medication that helps improve blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.

In September of 2009 the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) issued a revision of the warning label on Januvia to include the risks of Januvia pancreatitis and Januvia cancer. To view the FDA Januvia Medication Guide, click here.

FDA data from thousands of patients concluded that taking Byetta had a 2.95 times greater risk of developing pancreatic cancer than those on an unrelated diabetes medication.  Byetta now carries the warning label issued by the FDA as well.  To view the FDA Byetta Medication Guide, click here.
